FirstService Residential Move-in Condo Fees

On March 28, 2017, Tycko & Zavareei LLP, along with co-counsel, filed a class action lawsuit against FirstService Residential alleging the property management company routinely charges applicants more than $100 in transfer fees in violation of the Florida Condominium Act.

The Florida Condominium Act prohibits condominium associations from charging transfer fees of more than $100 per applicant in connection with the sale, mortgage, lease, sublease, or other transfer of a unit. Those fees include charges associated with applications, screening, background checks, and move-in fees,

The complaint alleges FirstService Residential routinely charges applicants more than $100 in transfer fees for applicants desiring to move into one of the condominium buildings it operates in the State of Florida.
