Flushable Wipes

Tycko & Zavareei LLP is currently investigating whether pre-moistened wipes and other products labeled “flushable” are in fact safe for toilet use.  An increasing number of products, such as baby wipes, household cleaning tissues, tampons, and toilet cleaning wands with disposable heads, claim to be “flushable” and “sewer and septic safe.”  But consumers have reported problems suggesting that it is not safe to flush these products and that doing so can potentially cause substantial damage due to harm to plumbing and sewer and septic systems.  And municipal sewer authorities across the country have been sounding the alarm that these products can clog household plumbing and city sewer lines.  Accordingly, we believe that consumers may be misled into purchasing these products.
