ATTN: Current and Former Bank of America Customers
Have you incurred an overdraft fee on your BofA checking account for Redbox purchases making an inexpensive movie rental cost of $30 or $35 more than it should?
Debit card transactions can be either “one-time” or “recurring.” While banks are allowed to charge overdraft fees on “recurring” transactions, they may not charge overdraft fees on “one-time” transactions without your express consent.
Consumers have complained that many banks are charging overdraft fees on “one-time” transactions like Redbox purchases—even if consumers have not expressly told their banks they want “overdraft protection” for those types of transactions. We believe this is likely unlawful.
