Tycko & Zavareei LLP is pleased to announce that Sabita J. Soneji, a partner in the firm’s Oakland office and Chair of the firm’s Privacy and Data Breach group, has been elected to the American Law Institute (“ALI”).
The ALI, the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and improve the law, selects members through a rigorous and confidential nomination process that recognizes demonstrated excellence in the legal profession, high character, and commitment to improving the law.
“We are incredibly proud of Sabita’s election to the American Law Institute, in recognition of her outstanding legal acumen and her commitment to advancing the profession,” said Hassan Zavareei, co-founder of the firm. “Her achievement reflects the caliber of excellence we strive for and the distinction we bring to our cases.”
Sabita brings decades of experience both at the US Department of Justice and in private practice fighting unfair, fraudulent, and illegal practices that harm consumers. Her practice now focuses on complex class actions and qui tam litigation, and she has achieved significant results for consumers including those harmed by massive data security failures and corporate practices that collect and monetize user data without consent.
Membership in the ALI is considered one of the highest honors in the legal profession. Members participate in drafting, discussing, and finalizing ALI publications that influence courts, legislatures, and legal education throughout the United States.
