Illegal Digital Delivery Fee

Charged a Digital Delivery Fee?

You may be entitled to compensation if you’re a current student or recent alumni of American, GW, or UDC.

What’s the issue?

If you bought or rented a digital textbook from the American, GW, or UDC bookstore websites (run by eFollett) in the last three years, you were probably charged a “digital delivery fee” on top of the price of the book. Think a “digital delivery fee” for a digital textbook sounds fishy? We do, too. D.C. law prohibits unfair and deceptive sales practices, which can include hidden fees. We suspect this added fee is illegal under D.C. law.

What can you do?

Join others to take action in a mass arbitration if you bought or rented a digital textbook from the American, GW, or UDC online bookstores during the last three years.
Fill out the form below to have an attorney review your potential claim for free.

What could I get?

While there are no guarantees, the law allows claims for up to $1,500 for violations of the D.C. consumer protection law. We hope to get you your money back, and more. But we can only proceed if enough people sign up.

Is this a lawsuit? What happens if I sign up?

This is a mass arbitration, not a lawsuit. In a mass arbitration, many people sign up together to pursue their claims together, but they do it through arbitration—not in court. You can read more about mass arbitration, and why we use it, here: https://www.tzlegal.com/news/mass-arbitration-101/).

What will this cost me? What happens to my information?

We plan to pursue claims against eFollett (not your university) on behalf of eligible students and recent alumni for no out-of-pocket cost. We will only be paid if we recover money on your behalf.
Unlike court, arbitration proceedings are private—meaning your participation will not be searchable or otherwise made public.
