Data Breach in Healthcare Giant Leaves Millions at Risk, Leading to Class Action Lawsuit
TZ Partner Sabita J. Soneji has been appointed to the Plaintiffs Executive Committee in a data breach class action against HCA Healthcare, Inc., a healthcare company with over 2,000 facilities nationwide. The breach, disclosed by HCA on July 10, 2023, exposed the personal information of nearly 11 million people and has left them vulnerable to identity theft and fraud. To hold HCA accountable for its failure to safeguard sensitive information it collected, plaintiffs are seeking certification of a nationwide class and a Texas subclass for those affected by the breach.
The case is In re HCA Healthcare Data Security Litigation, Case No.: 3:23-cv-00684 in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee.
