Anurag Gupta, et al. v. Aeries Software, Inc., case no.: SA CV 20-00999-FMO in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division
U.S. District Judge Fernando M. Olguin approved an impressive $1.75 million settlement for the victims of a data breach involving Aeries School Information System and San Dieguito Union High School District (SDUHSD). This settlement will provide financial compensation to nearly 100,000 people who had their personal information compromised in the incident — up to $1000 per individual ordinary losses or even as much as ten times that amount if deemed “extraordinary.” Moreover, not one penny from this pool goes unrewarded – all class members are entitled 12 months of credit monitoring valued between $70-120 dollars each. To top it off, Aeries is also mandated by court order integrate additional safeguards against future breaches like this one ever again occurring again.
