$27.3 Million Delta Airlines COVID-19 Refunds Class Action Settlement

Outcome: $27.3 million

Angela Dusko v. Delta Air Lines, Inc., Case No.: 1:20-cv-01664-ELR in the Northern District of Georgia (Atlanta Division)

In a major victory for travelers, Delta Air Lines agreed to settle a class action lawsuit regarding flights that were cancelled early in the COVID-19 pandemic. The Atlanta-based airline agreed to pay $27.3 million dollars to about 14,000 consumers who had their flights canceled between March 1 and April 20, 2021. The case against Delta began when they refused to give cash refunds instead of offering future flight credits when their customers were hit with flight cancelations due to the initial outbreak of COVID-19 back at the beginning of 2020. In the final approval order, the Court noted that Class Counsel, “acted with diligence, skill, and professionalism” during the litigation.
